Join the Black Alumni Chapter (BAC) for their 2nd Annual Scholarship Luncheon!
 
The Black Alumni Chapter (BAC) was founded in 1965. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the BAC will be offering two $800 scholarships, one of which is in memoriam of Tyrone A. Patton, Jr. (Class of 1991) a recently departed alumnus who was an BAC executive board member for many years. Tyrone lived the mission of our chapter.

The Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 to assist in the education of students who promote and live the concept of positive community involvement within the African-American community. Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, who demonstrates community involvement. Students sought are committed to being involved in the WCU Community, demonstrate community service and are committed to helping to better the African-American and Latino communities. Recipients must be able to attend the annual BAC Scholarship luncheon which will take place on May 5, 2018.

In 2017, the Black Alumni Chapter held its first scholarship banquet and awarded its first scholarship to Raynell Peacock, a senior majoring in Respiratory Care. A few of Raynell's on-campus activities included being a member of the Friar's Society, Multicultural Organizational Advisory Board (MOAB) Representative for Black Men United, Academic Ambassador for Brother II Brother (Minority Male Mentoring Program), Facilitator/Committee member for Brothers of Excellence Conference and a peer mentor for the Larry Dowdy Multicultural Center.

The chapter also awarded two book awards to runner up applicants, Mikhi Woods and Simone Evanson.
