The Abbé Society Alumni Chapter of West Chester University

Dear Sisters,

I am excited to announce our first ever regional service project! The weekend of March 10th and 11th we will be preparing breakfast bags for Aid for Friends.  “Aid For Friends' mission is to serve needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the 5 county Greater Philadelphia area, with free daily home-cooked meals delivered weekly by empathetic volunteer visitors, and also to provide shut-ins with free out reach services. The goal is to help our homebound "client/friends" maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to enhance their quality of life.”

During this weekend sisters will be gathering in different locations to prepare bags of non-perishable breakfast foods and make cards for shut-ins.  This will be a project that you are welcome to bring your kids to help with.  One person from each location can then bring the bags to the Alumnae Tea on March 25th

At each location we need volunteers to:

  • Host or find a location where bags can be prepared (places like Panera Bread may be willing to let you meet there for free)
  • Solicit donations of food and gift cards from grocery stores and shop (I will send you a request letter)
  • Bring the bags to the Alumnae Tea

We already have commitments from the following areas.  Please contact the sister listed if you are interested in attending and tell her if Saturday or Sunday works for you and if you will be bringing any children.  Please contact Karen Beck ( if you would like to host at another location.

Montgomery County (Ambler)- Karen Snyderman Beck,

Delaware County (Drexel Hill)- Michele Kenny Stephano,
