  • SOLD OUT: Planetarium Show
    Time: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
    Cost: Free
Location: Dr. Sandra F. Pritchard Mather Planetarium
Event Details: The greatest origin story of all is unfolding before our eyes with the James Webb Space Telescope. Webb is NASA’s newest premier space science observatory – destined to be a household name, like its predecessor, Hubble. This is an Apollo moment for NASA science. After decades in development, NASA launched the Webb Space Telescope on Christmas morning 2021. After six months of space travel, deployment, testing and calibration, and just three months of science operations, Webb is already altering our understanding of the universe. It is observing all of the cosmos, from planets to stars to nebulae to galaxies and beyond – helping scientists uncover secrets of the distant universe as well as exoplanets closer to home. Webb is exploring the outer solar system with exquisite new detail, all the while searching for the faint light from the first galaxies formed after the Big Bang. To celebrate this moment, West Chester University is hosting a special Homecoming Weekend presentation on Friday, October 7th at 5:30 PM in the newly renovated Mather Planetarium. These tickets will be in very high demand, so reserve now. We hope to see you there!

  • Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology newest exhibition: "Beyond the Bell: Philadelphia’s Global Heritage"

Artifacts include millennia-old Lenape artifacts, an indenture and shackles from a slave ship, the earliest Abolitionist text written (in German), relics from St. Katharine Drexel, a pushcart from a turn-of-the-century sidewalk vendor on South Street, 17th century woodworking artifacts from the Swedish community, Mummers artifacts, and original artwork from leading Philadelphia artists.
