Athletic Training Alumni Chapter

As another new sports/academic year opens, we are pleased to provide you with this brief update on what has been happening with the Athletic Training Alumni Chapter and the AT Program since spring.

In coordination with the AT Program, the AT Alumni Chapter hosted a reception at the NATA meeting in New Orleans. Approximately 65 alums and friends attended the event at Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria on Wednesday, June 26th. This was a great opportunity to reconnect, share updates from our program, and get involvement from our incredible alumni for upcoming endeavors within the AT Alumni Chapter.

We received an update on the facilities renovation for Sturzebecker Hall and the Phillip B. Donley AT facility. The proposed timeline for the renovations is below. While the new AT facility is not scheduled for completion until Spring/Summer 2027, please know that progress is still being made toward its completion.

• February - December 2024 - Planning and Design
• January - March 2025 - Bidding and L&I review
• June - December 2025 - Exterior building Geothermal well field construction
• January 2026 to July 2027 - Interior building construction

• North wing (all three floors), West Wing (first floor) Including the cadaver lab, classrooms, athletic and academic offices, AT Skills Lab

Sequence Two - Interior Construction, January - July 2027

West Wing (All three Floors), Gyms, Elevator, Locker Rooms

After a successful rollout the AT Alumni Chapter Mentoring Program during the 2023-2024 academic year, the AT Alumni Chapter and the AT Program have decided to offer this program again during the 2024-2025. Suggestions gathered from the AT mentors and the AT students, along with the AT faculty are being used to improve the program and offer it earlier in the 2nd year students’ last year in the program. Mentors involved in the inaugural year of the program will be offered the opportunity to participate again this year, and the AT Alumni Chapter will be seeking additional mentors with >5 years of experience once the final number of students and returning mentors is determined. Please look for an announcement soon coming to you via social media, direct email, and updates on the AT Alumni Chapter webpage Alumni - West Chester University (wcualumni.org). Please keep checking the alumni webpage; make it one of your favorites. • The AT Alumni Chapter also hopes to again offer an on-line CEU opportunity to its members/alumni during the Fall 2024 semester. We’ll be sending out media blasts, emails, and posting on the Alumni website more information on this CEU event soon.
